The desire to become wealthy might be something that you struggle with. Often the dream of being rich can be filled with ethical notions and conflicting thoughts that actually prevent us from finding the wealth that we desire. What can you do to overcome these conflicting thoughts and allow yourself to become wealthy?

You may deny that you have any negative thoughts about money but all of us have these thought to one degree or another. Our upbringing and what we have been taught when we were young might have something to do with it. Our society, in general, also has many negative thoughts about being rich that you may believe. These thoughts are a part of you and what you think on a subconscious level. Changing your thoughts and creating a new perspective can change your life and your ability to generate wealth.

The first area or misconception that you should think about is your worthiness to be truly wealthy. All of us have a small inferiority complex. In some of us, it's larger than in others or more predominant. We don't believe that we will ever be rich because we're not intelligent enough or we're not deserving of having those things that we desire. We might still want wealth and financial security but deep down inside we are filled with doubt and we keep our dreams to ourselves.

Changing how you feel about yourself and your ability to generate great wealth is the first step in your success. Great people from all walks of life and every degree of intelligence become wealthy. It's not just extremely intelligent people or lucky people or even those that come from wealthy families that become rich in this world. It is true that everyone that becomes wealthy believed in their ability to become rich. On the other hand, those that are poor remain poor because they believe that this is their lot in life. Believe that you deserve to be wealthy in your heart and you stand a much better chance of achieving that goal.

Secondly, you might feel that all rich people are greedy or stingy with their money. You might have had bad experiences in your life with people who are considered rich and you don't want to be like them. There are also many people in the world that hate rich people and you don't want to be hated. You'd rather be poor and happy than rich and miserable.

Keep in mind that what you may think is a hate for the rich or negative feelings about wealth are actually jealousy in disguise. There are many stereotypes in our society about the wealthy class and many negative feelings about wealth that are actually simple jealousy. Wealth doesn't have to change you and there are more positive things that go hand in hand with money. Just think about all the people that you know that you could help. Think about not having to worry about the bills getting paid and being able to take care of the people you love in the way that you always wished you could. Imagine what it would be like to donate to your favorite charities without a thought. There is more to be gained from being wealthy than simply having money.

Finally, there is probably a small part of you that feels guilty for wanting more money. Maybe you feel that you should be grateful for what you have and that your desire for wealth is simply greed. Most of us have this feeling to some degree. We have been taught that we should want other things in life such as closer relationships with the ones we love or a closer relationship with God but if we desire more money then we are greedy. You might even feel bad for dreaming about what it would be like to be rich and not have to worry about money.

In order for you to stop feeling guilty about your desire to be rich or for wanting more money in your life, try to think of money a little bit differently. Money, after all, is just a number in your bank account or numerous small pieces of paper. When you think of money as something that doesn't really hold any value then it becomes easier to think about collecting a lot of it. Think of it like you would small stones that you see as you're walking through life or imagine that money is as easy to collect as leaves on the ground on a fall day. That number in your bank account is simply a number. It is a measuring stick that we use to determine how many people we have helped in this world. In the end, it's just a number of how many small pieces of paper we have collected.

Overcoming the limitations that prevent you from becoming wealthy and financially secure should be something that you focus on every day. Removing these stumbling blocks might be more important than anything else that you do in your life. It can mean the difference between being consumed with stress over money and feeling the freedom to live your life in the manner that you deserve. You have greatness within you. We all do. Don't let that greatness wither on the vine. Give yourself permission to become wealthy and you will see changes in your life and your bank account.
